In governance sphere, trust deficit implies decreasing trust of citizen in the capability and intention of government/ administration to ensure justice and public welfare.

Trust deficit is a symbol of declining faith in social contract that exist between a state and its citizen. Trust deficit undermine the “rule of law” and may lead the society toward anarchy.
