Transparency is the principle and practice that enables the people to obtain accurate information about government activities. Transparent information can be details on anything from accounting figures to how decisions are taken in government to information about rules or laws that govern the system etc. Lack of transparency may lead to deliberate concealment of information from the public. Transparency ensures constant public scrutiny and makes government more responsible, citizen centric and accountable.

“Transparency means shedding light on shady deals, weak enforcement of rules and other illicit practices that undermine good governments, ethical businesses and society at large.”- Transparency International.
